Strange how the brain works, a night of insomnia the other day led me to pondering digging out the Whirarwistan US and Soviet infantry and cracking on with them. Having dipped a load of Zulus I was in the "dip zone" so I got on with the remaining two US Mechanized Infantry Squads, finishing the first this lunchtime...
The figures are a mix of
Esci and
Revell plastics and painted up using the techniques detailed
here. The final squad just needs the basing finishing and that will be the infantry for the Mechanized Platoon complete.
2014 Painting Target: 90/1000
These are really very good. Done to this standard 1/72 is on a par with any 28mm figures. Thanks for sharing this....I am off to dig out some 20mm....
ReplyDeleteI would like to claim all the credit but the dip does the hard work - have a look at the step by step on the Whirawistan blog link above.
DeleteGreat work, Steve - did you prep them beforehand with PVA etc?
ReplyDeleteNo Monty, I find the dip does the same thing. The barrels might be a possible weak area but after a few knocks they still are ok. I've had no flaking on these or my dipped WWI infantry.
DeleteGreat looking unit. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, the Revell set is one of my favorite sets.
