It was sad to read the news of Gerry Anderson's passing today. To many of us of a 'certain age' his TV shows defined our youth, in my case Stingray and Thunderbirds...
A few years back I bought a complete set of the Konami Thunderbirds models with the idea of creating an International Rescue type game. An idea to dust off in 2013 perhaps...
Sad news indeed. I was a massive Thunderbirds fan as a child and even back then it wasn't so much the cliff-hanging storylines that had me mesmorised but the actual models that were created to bring his fictional world to life. The vehicles and terrain created for the series was seriously spectacular and way ahead of their time. Rest in peace Mr Anderson and thank you for your contribution to my childhood memories.
ReplyDeleteI recall watching them as a kid...got a buddy that is going to hate to her this news he grew up with this stuff and loved it.
ReplyDeleteI was a real fan in my childhood, the only good TV show thta I can remember in the late 60s in Spain. I still own several plastic figures and spaceships from that seires that I received for Christmas in that age.
ReplyDeleteThunderbirds was my absolutely favourite TV show ever! I was lucky enough to meet Mr Anderson a couple of years ago and thank him for enhancing my childhood!
ReplyDeleteJungle cat, Zero-X, Cloud base, Marineville etc., etc. What more can one say? Shaped the minds of a generation.
